What to Expect While on Your Group Tour

Casterbridge’s personal service and attention to detail do not end once you have booked your tour. Our team of highly trained travel coordinators continue to ensure that your tour will be what you want in the most thorough and engaging manner possible.

Tour Manager/Guide

Once you are on tour, you will be in the hands of a very capable Tour Manager/Guide. Each one provides a degree of personal attention to the educational needs of each group unequalled in the travel industry. This is certainly appreciated by group leaders and the Tour Manager/Guide is often described as the one factor that, more than any other, distinguishes a Casterbridge tour from those of our competitors.

Efficient Use of Your Arrival Day

Arrival days are an important part of your touring programme. Because your personal guide will meet your group at the airport, you will never wait for other groups to arrive. This will give you time to exchange money and be on your way without undue delay. Because you will also have your own exclusive bus and driver, we can often include introductory sightseeing en route to your hotel, and we may also be able to include an initial site visit or excursion to get your students accustomed to the country.

Casterbridge Groups Get Off the Bus!

On large, combined tours that typically spend a great deal of time in a bus, microphone descriptions of cities and sites can only provide the briefest of descriptions of each destination. Our philosophy is to get out of the bus and take walking tours and in-depth visits to important sites. Your Tour Manager/Guide can then focus on the educational and cultural aspects that are most important to your group. We also supplement the knowledge of your Tour Manager/Guide with local specialist guides at various locations to ensure that your educational goals are not only met, but exceeded.

Each Day Contains a Variety of Content

As important as the educational focus of a tour is, it is equally important that your students enjoy their time abroad and feel they have truly connected with the local culture. We therefore ensure that each day contains a variety of activities, which are complimented by your guide’s local knowledge and expertise.

Your Tour Manager/Guide will accompany your group on all educational and cultural visits and excursions in order to compliment your educational goals and add his or her local knowledge and expertise to the activity. Your guide will also accompany you to artists’ workshops to see how local products are made, or perhaps give you a tour of the local market. He or she may even take part in a cooking or dance class with you, or in any number of other cross-cultural connections.

We want to ensure that your students stay interested in all your tour activities, so your Tour Manager/Guide will strive to break up each day with recreational activities and some free time. These may include a river trip, a visit to a local village, or a hike ride around a lake. Your group will always have free time to explore or go shopping at lunchtime and in the evenings, and your guide will ensure that your group is in a safe and interesting area when they pursue these activities.

Flexibility On Tour

Your own exclusive guide means you will have a great deal of flexibility while on your tour. If you decide you would like to spend more time at one site or to have some additional free time, he or she will help you get the most from your time abroad.
